Images! Mostly stuff I've dumped out of my camera so I can look at them later without having to go searching my computer. However you can enjoy them yourselves if you're into that whole thing. If not -- you suck. Yeah!

Click each image for a larger image - The sizes vary depending on how the quality was set on my camera and if I thought they were worthy of not shrinking below 1024x768. If for some reason you would like the original 1600x1200 size photos contact me at astrolorf@hotmail.com - Feel free to download and use these crappy images however you see fit =þ If you find an interesting use for one, also please let me know.

Fishing Images
Images taken while I was at work either in the cockpit or from the bridge. As you can see they're not all images of fish or people fishing. You see some interesting sights working on the water. Sadly I've only taken pictures of a small fraction of the beauty to be seen at Cape Cod.

--This is the channel leaving Rock Harbor in Orleans on a particular calm morning. Cape Cod bay is truley amazing sometimes with it's lake-like water. Sometimes on mornings like this the water is like a mirror where you can see perfect reflections of boats, birds, people, or the tree's like in this image. The metal bar kinda ruins the shot, but I was trying to drive while taking the shot (don't want to knock over a tree).

--This is a rather nasty storm front blowing in from the west. The clouds on top of the front were particularly cool looking with their sinuous lines. I was fishing off of Wellfleet that day while a storm blew in. It was at the end of the trip so we were almost back to the harbor before the gusts started hitting us. The wind was blowing up-wards of 40mph, which can make the chop we get in the bay a little uncomfortable.

--Yar it's a fish. A Striped Bass more specifically (incase you didn't notice the stripes). This one was around 3 foot long, which was about average this summer (2004). Some of our fish that particular day went up to 44" which weighed in roughly around 35-37 pounds (the scale broke that day too). This guy as far as I know is still swimming around on Billingsgate shoals so go get him!

--Here you can see about half of "The Fleet". Short for "The Cape Cod Charter Boat Fleet" we pride ourselves on being the largest fishing fleet in New England. We kinda cheat as we say we're over 30 boats but that's counting multiple harbors. Rock Harbor alone has 20. All the boats work fairly close together using CB and VHF radio's to let each other know how the fish are moving/eating on a given day.

--I'm surprised how well this shot came out considering how fast I took it and the low resolution I used. For as long as I can remember working on the boat I've always found a Praying Mantis somewhere onboard every summer. The summer I took-over captaining I found this little green insect instead. I chuckled when I saw it thinking of old Kung-Fu movies when the master would always call his pupil "Grasshopper".

--One thing I've always found fascinating ever since I saw it the first time was low-lying fog. I took this later in the day but in the morning from the cockpit you couldn't see anything, however once you went up 30 feet into the tower you could see all the tops of boats whizzing around. It's still pretty interesting how you can clearly see the tops of these boats, but the bottoms are all distorted by the fog.

--Mmmm clouds. Eat your heart out WindowsXp Green Field, the real deal is better in real life (?). When the wind blows from North East to South East the air on Cape Cod is some of the cleanest coolest air to be found bringing in beautifully clear skies and visibility that stretches until it curves off the earth. This was acctually a storm moving in, but it was some gorgeous before hand.

--On a more hystorical note this is an old Coast Guard station around the backside in Provincetown. This was a bizarre day of fishing that lead us all the way down to the backside of Truro (almost 2 1/2 hours away from Rock Harbor). You can acctually see small fish slicks left by the fish we were chasing around Race Point at the tip of Cape Cod all the way down the backside of the Cape.

--Ahhh Sunrise, one of the few perks to waking up at 2am to go fishing. That black splotch there is acctually the rock that Rock Harbor is named after. It's the first sight that truley makes you feel alright about getting your ass out of bed to go fishing BEFORE the crack of dawn. In all honesty the early morning trips are my favorite trips as far as fishing goes. The fish generally bite better during The Rising Sun. Pretty colors.

--Yeah yeah, another boring sunset shot. Hear me out though because I like remembering this picture. This was one of the BEST fishing days you could possibly imagine. We caught our limit of fish very fast. I then talked the crew into going Blue Fishing using light tackle spinning rods. They had a ball and ended up keeping 57 bluefish. This being July 3rd - on the way in, all the towns had their fireworks going off, it was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day, and one I won't soon forget.

Random Images
Fairly self-explanitory section. Random images that have ended up on my computer that caught my eye and I wanted a place where it could catch my eye again.

--A sight you don't normally see. On my way to school the T was completely empty, I was the ONLY person on it for about two stops which had never happened to me before. Check out my shitty New Balance shoes. I love how when the trolleys are empty like this it seems like there's more trash than when it's completely loaded (I looked afterwards, it's about the same).

--I was up past my bed time watching [adult swim] which, is a random collection of adult oriented cartoons (not porn - perverts) 11pm-2am. This one was from a fairly short anime series FLCL. I noticed however, that a common trend in many of the anime shows was to have a character with a crooked cigarette to kind of mirror a sort of hidden "twisted" personality within the character. The lighting in this one caught my eye.

--Don't tell mom but I took this shot while driving into Boston last winter, if you haven't been here in a while the big dig is quite-a-ways along. Even though this shot is quite old it's still a lot cleaner than it was maybe a year ago. I always loved the Boston sky-line driving in -- it's not the biggest, but it is pretty, the snow kind of accentuates it.

--Of course one bad thing about the winter in Boston is finding a place to park... Guess who's car used to be next to that van? Guess how much work it took to get it out? =þ I always love how the city just finds any random parking lot or empty field they can and just starts piling up the snow as high as they can. You think it's ingenious until you have to go to the store and find out that your parking spot is occupied by snow.

--I love this shot. Those green bars you can just make out behind the traffic light hold up what used to be Rte 3, and is now empty air. This is a perfect example of what happens inside the city when there's snow everywhere. One green light, and about a hundrded red brake lights. I missed class that day because I was stuck in traffic. Oh well I didn't miss too much I guess ;)
